Every Yakfest begins with excitement for the upcoming festivities. This one began with a bit of anxiety and later melancholy. If you know, you know. The kraken loses bet to Boon. Over what? Lost to the wind. Thursday road trip: we went for ribs in Weirton, WVA.

Chow was crazy as always. Fried peppers with bread, steak, and salad. Friday was Yaktoberfest! We had bratwurst, sauerkraut, pierogis and plenty of beer. Saturday pasta and sauce by the Old Man. Ma Connc cookies and other sweet treats. Lemon Crunch Pie from Janoski's.

Plenty of soups: Lima bean and tomato scallop rice by Guy, a smoky chili by Dave, and Carrot-Ginger (with burgers) by the Old Man.
