March 22 - 27, 2017
March came in like a lion and has pretty much stayed like a lion. Most days were clear, but cold. Temperature range: a high of 61° on a wonderful sunny Sunday to a low of 21°. Wind gusts off a frigid Raccoon Creek made it chilly, but it provided good weather for wood gathering and firemaking.
Thanks to Sean for bringing a TV so we could partake in NCAA March Madness at night. Dave was delighted to see his alma mater Buffalo upset Arizona. Kudos for the Kraken for buying yet another DVD player. We had a cocktails night and a vesper is one strong drink... We'll leave it at that. Enough said!
Chow
There was so much meat served at Yakfest that the Old Man lost his will to eat. Even the Kraken was sated. Barbecue chicken on Thursday, Sean made ribs on Friday night and he Old Man followed up Saturday with a giant brisket of beef for Saint Patrick's Day - the 29th anniversary of Yakfest to the day. Burgers and brats for lunches. Somehow grilled cheese sneaked in one lunch. It was a carnivore's dream. Despite all the meat, it was Cabbagefest with Guy's cole slaw and cabbage soup plus Dave's haluski. The Old Man made a delicious tomato bisque. Add Ma Conn's cookies and banana bread. Yes, our main activity was eating. Sunday breakfast was once again at Janoski’s Farm.
Attendance Roll
Guy, Buck, the Old Man, Dave, Sean and Paul Conn as the Kraken.
