“But where’s the liquor in it?”
It was the first Yakfest where all members are older than 50. Yikes!
One can make an argument that this Yakfest had the best weather of any Yakfest ever. The temperature spread only tells part of the story: a high of 78° and a low of 46°. Sunny days and clear nights were a perfect setting along with the lake and nearly full colors of the fall leaves.
Nights gave way to movie watching (and no card playing!) as we watch The Godfather once again (and never enough). Deadpool, NFL Films and Slap Shot lightened the mood.
On a splendid Sunday afternoon Mark and Buck partnered against Guy and Dave in bocce. Two hours later play ended with the teams tied.
Chow
It was indeed a Yakfest of plenty. Broccoliaganza battled Porkfest. Broccoli and Cheese Soup, Broccoli-Cumin salad, broccoli omelets and broiled broccoli went up against 3 pork Loin, hot Italian sausage and peppers, prosciutto, capicola, Portugese Kale Soup with chorizo and breakfast sausages. Guy's lasagna had hot sausage and meatballs. Add Ma Conn's cookies and root beer ice cream. It's hard to imagine there was time enough to drink beer, martinis and whiskey. Luckily, we found time for that too (and a trip to Mortal Keys Brewery.)
