We were back at the beloved Yakfest Manor, aka the Lakeside Lodge.
Another Yakfest with a wide temperature spread. Low temp 18° and Hi temp 73°! Rain held off mostly until Sunday night so 3 fires were prepped and burned. Discussion and fire-gazing were in order despite the honking of the "Pentecostal geese." Spring had just arriving a day before Yakfest, herons and bald eagles were spotted all weekend long.
Heart stopping Jart (history's most dangerous lawn sport) action as Guy and Dave beat Mark and Vince in a best 2 out of 3 grudge match. A couple of days later Buck and the Old Man won the adventure bocce crown in a similar 2 out of 3 match.
The Kraken made his presence known during his 1-day cameo appearance as he openly predicted that Buck's death would come well before his own demise. The Old Man and Vince faired worse in the Kraken's eyes as he slated them to join the choir invisible before anyone else. Perhaps it was the beer talking? Or perhaps it was the Kraken facing his own mortality with his 50th birthday in just a few months. At the fall Yakfest all members will be older than 50.
Chow
It was indeed a Yakfest of plenty. Pastaganza featured more than 6 pounds of pasta. The Old Man made a delicious carrot and ginger soup and he prepared teh traditional pasta night on Saturday. Dave made risotto and then shrimp scampi on Friday. Guy, aside form preparing all the breakfasts, made sausage soup with dilatini pasta then a spicy chorizo stew over campanelle. Despite the Kraken's cameo appearance, Mac Conn once again blessed the crowd with her delicious cookies. For a special treat Vince bought a HoHo Cake to comemmorate the 60th Yakfest.
