Raccoon Creek State Park
Lakeside Lodge
March 12-17, 2014
It's hard to believe that it has been twenty five years since the first Yakfest at Punderson State Park in Ohio, but it's true! Scenic Lakeside Lodge at Raccoon Creek State Park was once again our Yakfest home. We were grateful for our corps members attendance and spirits were high. Toasts were made commemorating the special occasion. I enjoy my holidays with my Yakfest family.
Despite the completely frozen Raccoon Creek (and its air conditioning effect when winds blew) we had decent weather for walks and ice flow shenanigans. With a range of 14-63˚ and a general trend towards the lower temperature, though we didn't go ice fishing there were a few locals out on the lake in their fishing huts.
There's no such thing as too much fun, so we decided to go overboard, way overboard, on the drinks and food. It was a once in a lifetime celebration, so why start moderation now? The kitchen offered: escarole & bean soup, cheese soup, capicola, sopresatta, provolone, mozzarella, bratwurst, blueberry pancakes, chicken wings 4 ways: traditional Buffalo, lemon pepper, honey lime and barbecue, pasta and sauce (western ribs, hot & regular sausage), garlic bread, Jimmy's hot peppers, Tonx coffee, milkshakes, K & K smokies, cupcakes, apple pies, cashews, peanuts, Bailey's, beer, wine, martinis and eggs & breakfast sausages.
Roll Call: Buck, Sean, Mark G, the Old Man, Guy, Dave, Vince and Paul Conn as the Kraken.
