Raccoon Creek State Park
Cabin 6
November 6-11, 2013
We were again at Raccoon Creek State Park, but we spent the weekend at Cabin 6 - up the hill from the Ranger station. The weather was accommodating with windy, crisp but clear days for most of Yakfest. The temperature range was a seasonal 25-59° F. All in all, we couldn't expect more. Good weather for hikes, football tossing, wood chopping and fire building. The marathon euchre game ended at 4:30 am at a 6-6 tie. Guy set a personal record with 6 injuries in 5 days (though his ping pong injury still lives in infamy).
The trip started with stops at a breakfast nook in Stow, a snack and food purchasing in Youngstown, and an extended beer drinking and general grazing at North Country Brewing Company in Slippery Rock. The North Country tab was a reasonable $100; not too bad given we walked away with 4 full growlers.
As usual the chow was great. The Old Man was resplendent in abundance.
